John Chen leads AEDO’s R&D team which assesses R&D proposals in the TRL 1-6 range for funding and actively manages funded projects to ensure they deliver technical progress with clear pathways to scale and commercialisation. He also oversees partnership building efforts across industry – from local facility owners and equipment manufacturers to startups and venture capitalists.

John concurrently serves on the Boards of the Centre for Hydrogen and Carbon Innovations (CHCI), Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERI@N), and Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore (SERIS).

Prior to AEDO, John spent over a decade in policy roles at the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry (METI), most recently at the intersection of climate and economic policy.

John has a Chemical Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from the Nanyang Technological University.
