Jong-Pil Ahn

Senior Vice President & Head of Chemical Production Headquarters

Jong-Pil Ahn has been appointed as senior vice president and head of #2 Complex, effective Mar 2026, in charge of production and reliability of Aromatic, RFCC, Polymer and Steam Cracker Plants. He previously served as SVP of Production Support HQ since 2025, SVP of Chemical Production HQ, VP of Refinery Innovation & Coordination Division, and VP of Supply & Optimization Division.

Jong-Pil Ahn joined S-OIL (previously Ssangyong Oil Refining Company) in 1993, after graduating from Seoul National University with M.S. & B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He later obtained an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business at Washington D.C. in 2004.

From 1993 to 2002, Jong-Pil Ahn took various assignments as a chemical engineer in such areas as research & development, technical development, and project coordination. After completing MBA study in 2004, he assumed responsibilities as a production coordinator and a chief engineer to aromatic process.

From 2007 to 2013, Jong-Pil Ahn explored his career in supply optimization planning and crude/condensate procurement at headquarters, collaborating with various functions such as refinery operation, marketing & sales, finance, corporate planning, etc.

Jong-Pil Ahn became a member of S-OIL leadership team since 2014 as a head of Supply & Optimization Division in charge of refinery optimization planning, supply operation, crude/condensate/LNG procurement & transportation. He continued management role at the refinery by taking leadership as a head of Refinery Innovation & Coordination Division in charge of refinery optimization, coordination, production management, facility/energy/innovation, etc.

Jong-Pil Ahn extended his roles as a senior vice president and a head of refinery headquarters since Dec 2023. He took a position as a head of Chemical Production Headquarters in charge of three production facilities of Aromatics, Olefin and Oil Movement. Then in Jun 2025, he was appointed as a head of Production Support Headquarters, being responsible to engineering, maintenance, and refinery general affairs. Recently, in Mar 2026, he was promoted to #2 Complex Head, of which complex includes Shaheen Project to be comprised of Aromatic, RFCC, Polymer, and Steam Cracker in the end. His role is leading production and reliability of the entire #2 Complex facilities.
